Carbon Sequestration for a Sustainable Future

Turning Coconut Husk into Biochar to Combat Climate Change

How Carbon Sequestration Works

Building a Circular Economy

Truecoco is developing a carbon sequestration project whereby it sources waste coconut husk from its farmers creating an additional revenue stream and turns the coconut husk into biochar. This stops the decomposition process and thus generates a high-integrity, Puro-certified carbon credit. The Biochar is mixed with compost and returned to the farmers as a climate-smart soil improver.

Truecoco believes that the opportunity to create a high-functioning circular economy using the agricultural waste from an established farmer network, represents a significant opportunity for Truecoco and smallholder farmers, whilst combatting the impacts of climate change.

Puro-Certified Carbon Credits

By working to create high integrity and quality Puro.certified biochar carbon credits, Truecoco will be able to provide farmer livelihoods with additional revenue, reduce cost of inputs, and improved their farm yields.
